Citizenship Application

To become a Canadian citizen, you must be a permanent resident.

In addition to being a permanent resident, you must have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days), filed your taxes, passed a citizenship test, and proven your language skills in English or French. There are exemptions with the age in requirements.

Canadian citizenship is becoming even more valuable amid growing uncertainty around the world. The pandemic has disrupted all facets of our lives and there is great political uncertainty in developed and developing countries alike.

If your citizenship application was submitted online or by paper, missing some information, documents, or fee receipt, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada will return your application..

The usual processing time is 12 months which includes processing of the complete application, the citizenship test, interview, and ceremony.

After the citizenship ceremony you can apply for the Canadian passport, you can vote in an election, and you will get 1 year of free admission to Canada’s natural parks and cultural centres.

One of the major benefits of hiring an experienced immigration counsel is that we can help you avoid mistakes and unnecessary delays by ensuring you submit the strongest possible Proof of Citizenship application possible.
